Dear colleagues,
I am going to present the program of the EAHP Tutorial to be held in (Spain) on June 13-16, 2007. The tutorial is aimed at honing the morphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular diagnostic skills of the participants. And therefore, short lectures and seminars are the “DNA” of the tutorial.
The city of Santiago, where both the hospital and the university are located, is recognized by UNESCO as a , and you will surely agree that this city is uniquely beautiful. The is the most popular landmark and has been the destination of countless pilgrims on the Way of Saint James from all over Europe since the Middle Ages. Furthermore, Santiago is a popular site for conferences and has all the necessary facilities to guarantee a successful event.
The is particularly well-known due to its work in oncology, cardiology and neurosciences. The hospital is associated to the University of Santiago, which has a history of over five hundred (500) years.
In order to get an update of the current developments in Medicine, the opening lecture will be clinical and the closing conference will be on Molecular Biology. The tutorial will include 15 presentations consisting of a , a involving 3 lymphoma cases, and a .
On the first day, seminars will be focused on B-cell Lymphoma. On the second day, seminars will be mostly focused on Hodgkin’s in relation to B-cell lymphoma, and cases of T-cell lymphoma. Finally, on the third day, there will be fewer but more varied seminars, including extranodal lymphomas, histiocytic and dendritic-cell tumors and controversial cases. Additionally, there will be 3 seminars on diagnostic strategy: immunohistochemistry, FISH, and molecular techniques.
As I said before, Santiago is the destination of the “Camino de Santiago” or Way of Saint James. Thus, we will spend the first day walking together along this spiritual route in order to promote a more complete and humanistic experience.
This will be an opportunity, although a brief one, to re-live the unforgettable experience we had during the International Pathology Meeting Along the Way to Santiago in 2004.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Santiago de Compostela.
Best regards,
